Vera Wang is extremely well known for her elegant and very fashion-forward bridal collections. For the Fall 2012 season, she has done it again. Vera Wang has created a trend-setting collection that includes seven black wedding dresses–and yes, I said black. Prominent individuals in the wedding industry are constantly trying to challenge the wedding “norms.” We’ve seen bridal gowns go from white, to off-white, to pastel-esque colors, to dusty tones, and now to the complete opposite end of the spectrum with black. Now obviously, the black wedding dress wouldn’t appeal to many women, but it signifies the expansion of wedding fashion. In future years, brides will have such a vast selection of bridal attire to choose from!

As shown in the images above, many of the gowns still have the classic silhouettes that many brides love. Wang included ball gowns, a-lines, trumpets, mermaids, and even put her own twist on certain silhouettes. The gowns are in a range of blacks so hesitant brides could start off with a “lighter” shade of black in a sense. She also incorporated lighter colors in a few of the designs to offset the darker hue. Once again, this look may not be for every bride but it’s amazing to see how far the wedding industry has come in terms of its fashion risks and opposition to traditions.
