Let the history and romance of James and Dolley Madison’s gracious 2,650-acre estate home provide a uniquely beautiful backdrop for your dream wedding. Begin your life together where they began theirs, gazing with hope and happiness at the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, only 2 hours away from Washington D.C.

Your wedding at Montpelier will include the use of the  property venue for one out of three wedding packages of your choice:

The Montpelier Wedding

Exchange vows at the symbol of Montpelier, the Madison Temple, which was designed and built by James Madison. Then stroll across the picturesque home’s front yard by candlelight to the William DuPont Gallery for a festive reception. There you will enjoy cocktails in the Gallery and the famous reinstalled Red Room among the treasures of a bygone era. Retire to the Grand Salon for a sit-down repast beneath the DuPont’s gold-leafed chandelier.

The Garden Wedding

Begin your new life together with the lush elegance of The Garden Wedding.  Here, in Annie DuPont’s Formal Garden, you will be surrounded by colorful peonies, Japanese irises and fragrant herbs as you make your entrance on the stately brick walkway through the filigree wrought-iron gates. It is a short walk from the Garden to the William DuPont Gallery where you and your guests can enjoy cocktails in the fabled Red Room and Gallery and then dine and dance the night away in the beautiful Grand Salon.

The Temple Wedding

Take your vows beside the romantic canopy of the Madison Temple nestled among the trees of the north lawn beside James and Dolley’s mansion. Then, entertain your guests with a tented reception just behind the Temple for a truly outdoor wedding with a spectacular view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Montpelier estate, and the famed Steeplechase Racetrack.

“My husband and I got married at the Golden Horseshoe Inn in August and we wouldn’t have changed anything! The staff at the Inn went above and beyond to make sure no detail was overlooked. They were professional, accommodating, and relaxed throughout the whole planning process and during our wedding day. The staff made sure that our guests’ needs were met, as well as our own. I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone getting married who is looking for a small yet lovely wedding. Our guests loved the quaint Inn and the serene setting. I have already told newly engaged couples about this venue and will continue too!”
