While red is associated with fiery heat, orange is associated with the benign warmth of the sun. A dynamic color to be sure, orange offers a more thoughtful control than explosive red. Curiosity is a driving characteristic of orange, and with it comes exploration of new things.

Put some orange in your life when you want to spice things up when you feel time is dragging; to become more involved in something; to increase creativity; relief from things becoming too serious.

Though orange is vibrant, it has a bit less intensity or aggression than red, calmed by the cheerfulness of yellow. Pumpkin, gold, flame, copper, brass, apricot, peach, citrus, tangerine  and vermilion are all terms used to describe different shades of orange.

How to mix match orange with other colors

While orange and black are traditional Halloween colors, orange really pops with a medium blue. Red, yellow and orange can be a fiery hot combination or a fresh, fruity experience in softer shades. Make orange tropical with green.

Use caution mixing orange and pink, unless you want to recreate a vibrating 60’s psychedelic look. Try a dash of orange with deep purple or a dash of purple with a bit of orange, tempered by lots of mellow yellow or white for an eye-catching look that’s not overpowering.

“Amazing Venue – Highly Recommended! The Inn at Westwood Farm offers an amazing country/rustic experience for anyone that is visiting the area — it is convenient to local wineries and historical sites, and the innkeepers (Jay and Elizabeth) spare no detail in offering a truly wonderful experience to their guests, including excellent food, great knowledge of the local area, and a warm, welcoming personal touch. We rented the entire inn for the weekend and had a fantastic visit – we would strongly recommend it.”
