Peacocks symbolize refinement, royalty, integrity and the beauty you can achieve when you choose to show your “true colors.” It should come as no surprise that in the world of weddings; peacock themes are becoming increasingly popular while still remaining unique and original.   Feathers have a vibrant color palette to work with including green, blue, teal, purple, bronze and gold.

The word tacky is often the initial thought when first considering feathers. However, there are endless amounts of classy and elegant ways to incorporate peacock feathers among decorations, flowers, and throughout the entire venue.

At first you might be thinking, are peacock feathers hard to come by? Absolutely not. Feathers can be purchased online at a cheap price on websites such as save-on-crafts.com, or at a craft store like Michaels. Trying to score some feathers for free? Head over to your local zoo and ask if they have any spare feathers, some may be more than happy that you are taking the feathers off their hands.  Peacocks are not harmed in order to get their feathers. They lose their feathers once a year in a natural process called molting and about 150 feathers are molted per male peacock. Planning to decorate with feathers can be easy and worry-free.

As for the décor, feathers should first be incorporated in the save the dates and invitations. Websites such as zazzle.com and peacockinvitations.com have many designs for wedding stationary. However, a DIY invitation idea should include an actual feather in the invitation. Using plain white invitations can save money, and a blue ribbon can tie it all together while matching the feather.  While at the ceremony, the program and place cards can have a feather design.

Many brides place feathers in their bouquets to create an exotic addition. Feathers create a flow and movement that catch the human eye. Flowers that compliment this theme are tulips, hydrangeas, lisianthus, roses, and calla lilies. Some bold brides have even traded flowers for a feather bouquet. However, combining the flowers and feathers are more popular. Long plumes can flow from the flowers to create unique look. Groomsman can also have peacock feathers included in their boutonnieres.

Peacock feathers and flowers together can create stunning centerpieces; no matter how they are arranged. They can create impressive height as well. A peacock feather pen can also be used to sign the guestbook. Favors can range from chocolate bars with peacock designs to feather pens or bookmarks. A photo booth could also be a unique touch with props adorned with feathers such as hats, wings, and masks. Many peacock themed cakes have been used and they are simply gorgeous.

Peacock feathers can be extremely versatile. The brilliant colors make a completely striking appearance.
